Bimal Gharti

Director

An experienced accountant, I began as an apprentice in 2010 and gained further ACCA qualifications while working at different practices. I joined Grant Jones Accountancy in January 2024, gained my practising certificate, and became director later that year.

I thrive on variety and enjoy a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from individuals to limited companies with multimillion turnovers. By getting to know their unique features I can offer a high quality service and advice tailored to their situation and tax position.

A key part of my role in managing the running of our practice is finding ways to improve efficiency and client service. I find keeping abreast of changes brought about by new legislation and advances in technology stimulating. I happily share my learning with clients as well as team members whose career development I support.

I am of Nepali descent and fluent in three languages. My wife and I love travelling abroad, and being multilingual helps!

James Miller

Payroll manager

My accountancy career began in practice for a six-partner firm before moving to a top 20 firm where I specialised in Anglo-Israeli and Technology sectors.

After being head hunted by one of my clients, I moved into industry to work for a variety of firms, including a Nasdaq quoted company, in Financial Controller and Finance Director positions. I was also charged with business growth.

I successfully transformed these companies by using technology and cultivating markets. I gained further insights into issues accountants and their clients face through my work for an Accountancy network supporting accountants and their clients to develop their businesses.

Payroll and HR responsibility became a key part of my job, as it proved more effective to bring them in-house rather than use external services. Making a positive difference to clients and their employees is an immensely rewarding aspect of my career.

My payroll qualifications include the Foundation in Payroll Management Degree and I’m a Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals member.

Kamila Pelech

Accounts Assistant

Accountancy is my second career. After completing an MA in history at university in Poland, I taught the subject to high school students. When I moved to the UK I went back to college where I gained a bookkeeping certificate. I’m continuing to work towards further accountancy qualifications in my own time.

My job is never dull but full of variety: in addition to bookkeeping, I work on personal taxes, management accounts, VAT and more. I’m happy to tackle any task required as it helps to build my experience.

I have a very active personal life too. I love travelling and have visited around fifty different countries – and counting. Mountain hiking, walking in nature, yoga and Pilates do wonders for my fitness and health. My ever hungry son tells me I’m a pretty good cook too!

Leah Horne

Accounts Apprentice

I can’t wait to become a fully qualified accountant. As part of my apprenticeship, I assist clients to compile necessary documents, find answers to queries or refer them to senior colleagues. I keep my correspondence jargon-free and easy to understand.

My role includes bookkeeping and preparing VAT returns for some clients. I have progressed to training on accounts preparation for self-assessment tax returns. I also liaise with the tax office on client’s behalf with regard to self-assessment, PAYE or payment allocations.

Building rapport with clients is a highlight of my job, as is getting to know how they operate, their preferences and the processes that work for them.

Outside work, I enjoy weekly rock climbing/bouldering activities. I relax by losing myself in a good book or film. Travel and animals are my other passions – my most life-enhancing experience was winning a trip to Tanzania in a competition aged 12!
